The hospital was expanded in 1975, purchased by Charter Medical Corporation in 1976 and renamed Charter Suburban Hospital. The campus continued to grow with the purchase of a three-story Medical Office Building (MOB). In 1990, the hospital underwent another ownership and name change. Paracelsus Healthcare Corporation, later known as Clarent Hospital Corporation, renamed the hospital Medical Center of Mesquite. A full-service Heart Center was established in 1991. The Heart Center included a cardiac cath lab, open-heart surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, a centralized outpatient diagnostic and surgery area and a new Emergency Department. Since this time, a second cardiac cath lab has opened and nuclear medicine/special procedures have continued to grow. The hospital campus expanded in 1994 with the acquisition of commercial property located to the south of the MOB. This property today contains both hospital office space and physician office practices. In 1996, a three-story patient tower was constructed and currently contains a 14-bed technically advanced Intensive Care Unit on the 1st floor, a 10-bed state-of-the-art LDRP Maternity Unit on the 2nd floor, and shelled space for future growth on the 3rd floor. In 1998, a parking lot behind the MOB was constructed allowing for an additional 100 parking spaces. Commercial property across the street from the hospital was also purchased. This property houses the outpatient New Day program as well as several physician offices. And in 2000, the hospital purchased 1 acre of land north of the Emergency Department for the purpose of expanding the ED.
